Vandenberg airmen are returning home from Afghanistan today, just in time for the holidays. After traveling for 40 hours, Master Sergeant Lori Mills arrived at the Santa Maria Airport this afternoon. She was greeted by co-workers from Vandenberg Public Affairs. Mills served in Afghanistan for six months, working in public affairs for the military.
"I'm going to sleep for probably two days straight, I hope and then spend some time with some friends, eventually going see my parents and stuff in a few weeks," Mills said.
She says she's also looking forward to seeing her 14-year-old daughter. There are currently 140 Vandenberg men and women deployed around the world.
Two other airmen will return home late tonight from Afghanistan. They are Captain Joel Van Horn and First Lieutenant Raymond Geoffroy.
