There's something about Mission Prep's Christmas Classic that brings the best out of the Holliday family. Aaron Holliday followed in the footsteps of his older brothers with a game-high 38 points to lead Campbell Hall to a come-from-behind victory over Atascadero 82-73 during challenge night on Wednesday.
The sophomore guard, who's already being recruited by Pac-12 schools like UCLA and Arizona, scored 16 points in the third quarter to fuel the comeback. Atascadero led 40-30 at halftime, but the Greyhounds trailed 52-51 after three. Aaron is the younger brother of Justin Holliday and current Philadelphia 76er Jrue Holliday, who teamed up to lead Campbell Hall to a Christmas Classic title in 2006 and were named co-MVPs.
The Greyhounds built an early lead after Holliday picked up two quick fouls. Jared Studeman heated up for Atascadero and had 8 first quarter points. The Hounds led 19-13 after one quarter. Studeman, a junior finished with a team-high 28 points. Junior point guard Robbie Berwick added 10 points, 9 assists and 3 steals, while sophomore Ryan O'Connell contributed 9 points.
Now 4-6, Atascadero hosts its own tournament next week.
