Cal Poly freshman, Laura Hollander, posted the West Region's fifth best time, running in her 2013 debut at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday. The meet will conclude on Saturday.
Hollander, running in her first meet of the 2013 season, finished third in the women's 5000 meter Olympic Development Elite Division. She finished with a time of 15:53.73, three seconds behind winner Natasha LaBeaud of Brooks (15:50.34) and three and a half seconds on Amy Harper's 1983 Cal Poly school record of 15:50.40.
Junior David Namnath posted a career-best 52.06 in the 400 meter hurdles when he won his section and was third overall. The time is the 24th best in the west region. His time surpassed his previous 52.88.
Junior Jamison Jordan competed in the 100 and 400 meter runs and posted times of 10.84 in the 100 and a season-best of 21.75 in the 400m when he finished fourth in his section.
Junior John Guerrero finished 13th overall in the 800m with a time of 1:51.06 while senior teammate Aric Champagne posted a time of 1:53.93.
David Williams was 25th overall in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.72, just off his career-best of 14.60.
On the women's side, freshman recorded a personal-best in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.16 in with a third place finish in her section. It was an improvement over her previous best of 12.20.
Senior Lia Rivers-Birt finished 34th in the 800m with a time of 2:11.73.
In the 4x100 relay, Scott, Goynes, Love and Jessica Williams posted a time of 47.47 while Lauren Madigan, Goynes, Love and Rivers Birt posted a time of 3:52.01 in the 4x400 relay.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific, the Cal Poly throwers competed. Sophomore Brian Hutchinson paced the Mustangs with a seventh place finish in the shot put with a mark of 51-feet, 5-inches. Hutchison hit his mark on his final attempt.
Junior Joshua Hines was 22nd with a mark of 47-feet, 2.50-inches while Nick Bultman was 26th with a toss of 46-feet, 1.50-inches.
Bultman finished 10th in his flight with a mark of 145-feet, 5-inches.
On the women's side, Kara Caskey was 33rd in the discus with a mark of 125-feet, 1.0-inch with Talaivosa Hingano 24th in the shot put with a mark of 39-feet, 10.75-inches.
The Cal Poly throwers will compete at the Long Beach State Invitational on Saturday.
