Hollister wins decisive set, AG tennis edges SLO in key Pac 7 match to stay undefeated

Sean Hollister fought off three set points against Mason Hansen to win the final and decisive set for the Arroyo Grande High boys tennis team. The victory evened the match with rival San Luis Obispo at 9-9 in overall sets. The Eagles won the match by virtue of winning more games overall 79-74 to stay undefeated in league and win their 41st consecutive Pac 7 match.

The three-time defending league champions improved to 5-0 in league, while the Tigers fell to 4-1.

Hollister swept his three sets in singles 6-2, 6-0 and 7-6 (7-4). Defending league singles champion Eli Whittle won his sets easily 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0. Derek Lakowske dropped his opening set to Hansen 6-3, but fought back to take the next two 6-2 and 6-3. Arroyo Grande won 8 of the 9 singles sets.

San Luis Obispo won 8 of the 9 doubles sets. Josh Milla and Scott Hicks swept for the Tigers 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 and 6-1. Noah Cleere and Luke Iunker also swept 6-4, 6-2 and 6-1. Brandon Lippold and Cole Stephenson won two of their sets 6-1 and 6-2.

Cole Laughton and Ryan Stier provided the only doubles win for the Eagles. They edged Lippold and Stephenson 6-4.
