A transient from Ventura was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and battery resulting in great bodily injury from an incident that happened earlier this month.
On February 13, officers were called out to the Plaza Del Mar Park in the 20 block of Castillo Street to investigate a felony battery. While on scene police discovered a 49-year-old homeless man lying on the grass in park. The man found was severely beaten and needed medical attention. The victim was hospitalized but is expected to survive.
