A wildfire burning in the Big Sur area has damaged at least two homes and forced the evacuation of dozens. The fire is burning in the Los Padres National Forest in the Pfeiffer Ridge area. A spokesman with Los Padres National Forest says flames have charred about 550 acres so far. Andrew Madsen says the flames are burning toward the ocean, but have not crossed Highway 1 yet. The highway is still open to traffic. Pfeiffer Ridge is about 30 miles south of the Monterey County Line. The fire began around midnight and burned through dry vegetation. No word on what may have sparked it. The cause is under investigation.
