Honor flight carrying local World War II veterans returns to the Central Coast

The 17 Central Coast World War II veterans who went to Washington DC earlier this week to visit their memorial return to San Luis Obispo Thursday night.

They should arrive around 9:43 p.m. at the San Luis Obispo Regional Airport.

The community is invited to head over to the airport and welcome the group back to town.

The trip was paid for by an organization called Honor Flight. The organization covers the cost of the flights, meals, lodging, and transportation thanks to donations. It costs about $1500 per person.

If you know a World War II veteran who would like to make the trip or you'd like to make a donation, click here to complete the online application or you can mail donations to Honor Flight CCC, P.O. Box 1750, Paso Robles, CA 93441.

This was the first flight organized completely by the newly formed Honor Flight Central Coast California chapter.
