Horses stop traffic on Highway 101

A couple of horses stopped traffic on Highway 101 Friday morning.

The two horses were first spotted running loose on Monte Road, a frontage street just north of Avila Beach Drive, just before 11:30 a.m. Witnesses say the horses then ran into traffic in the northbound lanes of the highway.

Two KSBY employees, who happened to be driving in the area, followed the horses and helped slow traffic until the animals eventually stopped on the side of the highway. The horses' owner then arrived to help corral the animals and take them away.
