Hospital prepares for flu season

Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo announced on Monday that 96% of its employees and volunteers have been vaccinated for the 2013-14 flu season. That is above the national rate of 72% for flu vaccinations among health care workers, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Sierra Vista officials say staff who are unable to receive the flu shot will wear a surgical mask while in patient areas for the rest of the flu season.
