A Paso Robles man is being held for a psychological evaluation at San Luis Obispo County Mental Health after an hour and a half standoff early this morning.
Paso Robles police say it happened in the 900 block of Turtle Creek just before 1:00 a.m. Someone called to report a suicidal subject with a gun outside a residence there. When officers arrived, the man ran into that home with the rifle.
Officers immediately set up a perimeter around the home, and spoke with the subject via cell phone for an hour and a half, when they were finally able to convince the man to surrender to officers and leave his rifle inside.
No one was hurt, and officers seized three rifles and a pistol from the house.
The subject and his address are not being named, and no criminal charges are pending at this time.
