A house fire leaves a Santa Maria family homeless.

The fire started in the home's garage on the 1200 block of Via Del Carmel late Sunday night. One of the residents called 911 after he opened the garage door and saw smoke. Crews say the fire spread to the kitchen and hallways. Smoke damaged the entire house. Crews were able to knock down the fire within 25 minutes. Damages are estimated around $80,000 to $100,000.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
