The Santa Maria Saints bounced back nicely from their heartbreaking loss Wednesday at Cabrillo. The Saints came-from-behind in the second half to beat defending Los Padres League champion Morro Bay 76-67 Friday.
The Saints are now 3-1 in LPL play and 12-6 overall, while the Pirates dropped to 2-3 in league and 7-11 for the season.
Luke Munds dropped a game-best 28 points for the Pirates.
The Saints were led by Chillied Pabellan, who scored 12 of his team-high 17 points in the fourth quarter.
The Saints play at Santa Ynez next Wednesday, while the Pirates play at Orcutt Academy on Monday before returning to league play Wednesday at home against Lompoc.
Lompoc outscored Nipomo 20-5 in the second quarter and never looked back in the Braves 55-44 LPL win over the Titans. Kaileb Mendez led the Titans with 19 points and Luke Nickelson added 18. Nipomo committed 33 turnovers in the loss. The Titans are now 0-4 in LPL games and 1-17 overall.
Cabrillo remained undefeated in LPL action with a 57-54 home victory over Templeton. The Eagles fell to 1-3 in league. Will Mehring led the Eagles with 21 points. Andy Garretson added 12 points and 6 assists.
Orcutt Academy handled North County Christian easily 82-28. Manny Mangayo led the Spartans with 22 points and Dante Hodge added 14. Orcutt is now 3-13 on the seaosn, while the Crusaders fell to 3-8.
