HS Hoops Recap: Gilbert leads Pirates to 21st-straight LPL victory

The Morro Bay girls basketball team routed Lompoc 61-32 in a Los Padres League game on Wednesday. The Pirates improved 6-0 in LPL action and 12-3 overall. The two-time defending LPL champion Pirates extended their league winning streak to 21 games.

Cal Poly-bound Hannah Gilbert led the way with 27 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lompoc boys overcame an early second quarter deficit to beat Morro Bay 74-52 in a LPL game. The host Pirates were led by Luke Munds, who dropped a game-high 23 points on the Braves. Dreyton Howell led the Braves with 16 points. Lompoc is now 3-1 in LPL games, while the Pirates, the two-time defending LPL champions, fell to 2-4 in league.

Matt Willkomm hit four 3-pointers and finished with 24 points as the Arroyo Grande boys beat Paso Robles 57-36. The Eagles evened their Pac 7 League record to 3-3 and 14-6 for the season. Paso Robles fell to 1-4 in league and 5-13 overall.

The Eagles soared out to a 20-4 lead and cruised from there. DeSean Scott added 8 to go with 4 blocks and Andrew Midyett dropped in 12 points for the Eagles.

Josh Wilson-Murry hit 5 three-pointers to led the Bearcats with 22 points. Jaylon Davis added 7 points for the Beracats, who host St. Joseph on Friday.

The Paso Robles girls scored a thrilling 49-45 overtime win over Arroyo Grande. Katie Ryan led the Bearcats with a career-high 18 points. The Bearcats are now 2-3 in league and 9-9 on the year, while AG fell to 1-5 in league and 8-11 overall.

Maddie Leong scored a team-high 16 points to lead the Atascadero girls to a 44-31 home victory over Righetti. The Greyhounds are now 3-2 in Pac 7 games and 11-5 for the year, while the Warriors remain winless at 0-5 in league and 6-13 overall.

Connor Storlie scored 12 of her team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Mission Prep girls to a 50-42 win over Cabrillo. The game was tied at the half and after three quarters before the Royals outscored the visiting Conquistadores 21-13 in the final eight minutes.

Noelle Laird added 12 points and Carly Colvin drained 3 three-pointers to end with 11 points for the Royals.

Gaby Baumgardner led Cabrillo with 18 points.

Quinton Adlesh scored 13 points and Patrick Laird added 12 to lead the Mission Prep boys to a 49-43 victory at Cabrillo. The Royals improved to 13-6 on the season and 7-0 against teams from the Central Coast. Cabrillo, which is a perfect 5-0 still in Los Padres League action, fell to 11-8 overall after the non-league game.
