LOS ANGELES (AP) - The American Humane Association says it's enlisted an independent investigator to look into the death of a shark after a commercial filming in Los Angeles.

The 5-foot shark died March 6 after it became ill and was removed from a pool at a home. It had been shipped from New York to LA for a Kmart commercial.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals claims the shark became stressed when actors jumped in the pool.

However, the American Humane Association, which had a monitor on the set, says nobody went into the pool with the shark.

A statement Friday from Sears Holdings, which owns Kmart, says the shark wasn't mistreated and the company is following up with its ad agency and the commercial production company to find out what happened.
