The Fifth Annual Serve Santa Maria Day was held Saturday morning.
Volunteers met at the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center to get their volunteer assignments and then spread out to about a dozen different clean up sites.
Projects ranged from cleaning up a senior mobile home park to painting tables at Pioneer Park.
"We just go out there for about five hours and hit the streets, and it's amazing how much work can be done in such a short period of time," said Warren Gabaree, a Leadership Team Member.
Other groups were in charge of weed control and even planting at local parks.
The City of Santa Maria and Bethel Lutheran Church partnered up to put on the event.
