Hundreds of dogs march through downtown San Luis Obispo at Wiggle Waggle Walk for Woods

You may have noticed a lot of dogs walking through downtown San Luis Obispo Saturday morning.

It was the 21st annual Wiggle Waggle Walk for Woods. The event started at Mitchell Park, and hundreds of dogs and their owners took a stroll through downtown.

"People just love their pets. They bring so much to our lives. They make our lives so much better, and this is just a day to celebrate the bond that we have with our pets, with our dogs in particular. For dogs to come out and have 300 dogs to play with, it's a special day for the people and the animals," said Cory Karpin, the Executive Director of Woods Humane Society.

There was also a costume contest, and KSBY's own Kathy Kuretich was a judge.

The event is a huge fundraiser for the Woods Humane Society. Their goal was to raise $50,000, but they think they'll actually end up raising over $70,000.

"Every year at Woods, we adopt our more than a thousand animals, and there are just so many great animals that come into shelters every year that need new homes," said Karpin.

If you're interested in adopting a pet, just head to Woods Humane Society, which is located at 875 Oklahoma Avenue in San Luis Obispo. They'll ask you to fill out a questionnaire and then spend about 30 minutes to an hour meeting all the dogs so they can help find you a "forever" match.
