Winemakers and wine lovers from all over the world are gathering in San Luis Obispo County this weekend to celebrate the "World of Pinot Noir."
The three-day event includes several different seminars, winery tours, two grand tastings and two gala dinners. More than 850 people attended Saturday's biggest event, proving there really is something special about pinot noir.
"I think the thing about pinot noir is it's an incredibly finicky grape but it's one that really expresses itself incredibly differently from region to region," said Leslie Renaud, the event chair. "So even though it's the same grape and all these people are using the same grape, all of the expressions are completely different."
The festival kicks off Sunday with a brand new event, a walk-around Sunday brunch tasting at the Cliffs Resort in Shell Beach.
