Hundreds volunteer for Serve Santa Maria

People in Santa Maria have been serving the community for six years now, through Serve Santa Maria. Hundreds of volunteers gathered at the Abel Maldonado Center Saturday morning and then headed off to dozens of service projects. Volunteers helped with home improvement projects, park restoration, and even clean up at a mobile home park. "Their homes are breaking down a little bit. Their gardening needs to be taken care of. Their homes do need to be taken care of, and so we come out, and we help them do that at no cost," said Dorothy Mogavero, the co-leader of the Serve Santa Maria team. Organizers are already saving the date for the next Serve Santa Maria event. It's planned for April 13th.
