Caltrans says crews have successfully cleared Highway 1 at Alder Creek in Monterey County, and all traffic will be allowed to travel freely on that portion of the highway beginning Wednesday night.
A mudslide that happened last Sunday left that portion of the roadway impassable. Caltrans says the road has been cleared and beginning 7:00p.m. Wednesday, will be open to all traffic.
Crews do advise drivers heading to that area to watch for falling rocks.
Remember, Highway 1 at Rocky Creek in Monterey County remains closed. That portion of the roadway completely gave out about three or so weeks ago. Right now, pedestrians are allowed to pass through that area two times daily: at 7:00a.m. and 4:00p.m. Those pedestrians taking advantage of those openings will have to be escorted.
