FREMONT, Calif. (AP) - Federal authorities are investigating whether a chunk of ice that tore through the roof of a Northern California home fell from an airplane.

The San Francisco Chronicle (http://bit.ly/LwGQKG ) reports the basketball-size piece of ice crashed into the two-story house in Fremont around 6 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the falling ice shook the four-bedroom house and damaged the roof, but it did not enter the home's interior. No one was injured.

The house is under the flight path taken by planes at San Francisco International Airport.

Federal Aviation Administration officials say they have not determined if the ice came from an aircraft, but they are treating it as if it did.
