The Cal Poly women's basketball team saw their four game winning streak come to a screeching halt with a 61-43 loss at the University of Hawaii on Thursday night in Honolulu.

The Mustangs shot just 28 percent from the floor and made 1 of 8 from 3-point range to fall to 4-2 in Big West play and 10-7 for the season. The Warriors improved to 5-2 in conference and 9-9 overall.

Hawaii shot 43 percent in the first meeting between the two schools since 1982.

Molly Schlemer and Taryn Garza led the Mustangs with 12 points apiece. Schlemer, a Righetti High graduate, made 6 of her 14 shots and grabbed 6 rebounds. Kayla Griffin led the Mustangs with 9 rebounds.

Ashleigh Karaitiana and Kamilah Martin paced the home team with 17 points apiece.

Cal Poly returns to the mainland to play at Cal State Northridge on Saturday at 4pm. The Matadors lost to UCSB 56-37 on Thursday.
