Identities released of 2 involved in deadly hiking accident near Montecito

The names of two hikers who fell near Montecito Sunday have been released. One died and the other was injured.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says Brenden Michael Vega, 22, from Ventura, was killed when he fell off an embankment in a wooded and rocky area.

His friend, Saylor Guilliams, also 22 and from Ventura, fell and broke both her ankles and one wrist, and had other injuries, officials say.

A couple of hikers found Vega's body Monday about 15 feet off of the Cold Spring's Trail near Tangerine Falls.

A few hours later, more hikers found Guilliams along the same trail.

Investigators say both hikers were together when they fell and when Vega went for help, he fell to his death.
