SEATTLE, Wash. - Junior Matt Imhof fired eight brilliant innings and Cal Poly was victorious for the sixth time in seven games in a 4-0 victory Friday over Seattle.
Imhof, who won his second consecutive decision, struck out 15 batters in the contest, breaking a Cal Poly D-1 record. Imhof struck out 14 batters in a victory over Kansas State earlier this year.
Friday's game was scoreless into the sith inning before a Brian Mundell RBI single opened the scoring. The Mustangs added a second run in the frame, and then two more in the seventh inning.
Jordan Ellis was the only player from either team to collect more than one hit. The Mustang center fielder was 2 for 5 with a run scored.
Reed Reilly fired a scoreless ninth inning to complete the shutout.
Cal Poly improves to 10-2 overall. The Mustangs continue their series with Seattle tomorrow afternoon.
