The New Year is a great excuse to start an exercise regimen.
A new study suggests simply increasing the number of steps walked in a day can help people at risk for Type 2 Diabetes cut some of their health risks.
Researchers looked at data on adults with Impaired Glucose Tolerance, which is a form of pre-diabetes. All of the adults wore pedometers to measure how much they walked for a year.
Researchers found walking 2,000 extra steps a day cut a person's risk for heart disease by eight percent.
