Could apples be the next fad diet?

A study in mice finds an ingredient in apple peels, called ursolic acid, reduces obesity by increasing skeletal muscle and brown fat.

Both skeletal muscle and brown fat are known for their ability to burn calories.

Mice that were fed ursolic acid actually ate more and exercised the same amount as mice not given the compound, but they gained less weight and did not develop obesity-related conditions.
