(KSHB) The search for 18-month-old Lana Bailey continues, despite an Amber Alert request for the missing girl being denied.
Lana and her mother, 21-year-old Kaylie Bailey, were reported missing last week.
Kaylie was identified as one of the homicide victims found at a rural Kansas farm, but Lana's whereabouts are unknown.
In a news conference Wednesday, Franklin County Sheriff's officials said they requested an Amber Alert be issued, but the Kansas Bureau of Investigation said no.
The KBI said they denied the request because it was made too late, and "utilizing the Emergency Alert System ... would not enhance coverage" in finding the little girl.
Kaylie and Lana Bailey were last seen on or around May 1 at a house on Georgia Road in Franklin County, near Ottawa. Kaylie was identified Wednesday as one of the three homicide victims, along with 30-year-old Andrew Stout and 31-year-old Steven White, found in a barn on the property.
Kaylie's family members told 41 Action News she planned to leave Lana with Stout on Wednesday night while she worked the night shift at a security firm in Ottawa. Coworkers said she never made it to work.
