The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says the investigation into the death of Cal Poly student Giselle Ayala officially wrapped up last week.
Ayala was found dead on a beach near the UC Santa Barbara campus back in April.
According to the Coroner's Report, obtained by KSBY through a California Public Records Act request, Ayala died of blunt force trauma. She suffered a skull fracture and broken ribs after apparently falling off a cliff. According to the Toxicology Report, Ayala was intoxicated and had marijuana in her system.
Ayala's death was ruled an accident.
The Sheriff's Office says Ayala was in Isla Vista with friends attending parties the night before her body was found.
In a statement, the Ayala family said, "It is the family's hope that Giselle will be remembered as a bright and loving young woman with a thirst for greater knowledge and wisdom. She envisioned a world filled with social justice and fairness, kindness and generosity and was invigorated by supporting those in need. Her smile and beauty graced this world and those who knew and loved her deeply."
