San Luis Obispo City Fire investigators say Sunday morning's house fire was human-caused.
That fire began at about 12:30a.m. Sunday, on the 800 blk. of Islay St. When crews arrived, they say they found the two-story house engulfed in flames. The home was under renovation and had apparently been vacant for about a year.
Fire investigators tell KSBY News they believe the fire was human caused, but they are not yet sure whether it was deliberately or accidentally set. They say no electrical or gas service was on at the time the fire began.
Nearby apartments were seriously exposed to head and flames during the fire. It caused extensive damage to one side of the building. CalWest Property Management tells KSBY News four of the building's eight units are still uninhabitable. The American Red Cross says it is currently offering help to those displaced by the fire.
Fire officials say the blaze caused around $250,000 worth of damage.
