The stars were out tonight in Santa Barbara for the International Film Festival.

Tonight's biggest celebrity was film maker James Cameron, famed for his 'king of the world' box office hit 'Titanic', only second in sales to his newest sci-fi flick, 'Avatar'.

KSBY News got an inside look into Cameron's 'Avatar' inspiration.

"My entire life up until the time I wrote Avatar, my entire conscious life I should say, is synthesized into that movie," he said. "You know my love of nature, my love of science fiction, there's no single influence or inspiration."

Cameron was presented the Lucky Brand Modern Master Award.
It's the highest honor given at the festival and has gone to stars like Clint Eastwood and Jodie Foster.
