Morro Bay High School graduate Jerome Long was among the 21 players cut by the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday as the team got its roster down to 53 players for the start of the season.
Long, who was a seventh round pick by Kansas City last year after graduating from San Diego State spent most of last year on Chiefs practice squad before being signed at the end of the season to play for Jacksonville.
The Cowboys will announce which players they'll sign to the practice squad on Sunday. Long could sign with the practice squad if offered or any other NFL team.
Long is a 6'4", 297 pound defensive tackle who grew up in Los Osos.
