Here's a phrase you don't hear much lately: Help wanted. A local business says it needs 100 new full-time customer service employees.

Fusion Contact Centers is looking for full-time customer service reps within the next three weeks at its call center in Santa Maria.

The company employs more than three-hundred people locally to answer customer service calls and e-mails for national clients. No previous experience is required.

These folks are answering the call, customer service calls to be exact, more than 3,000 of them per week.

They work for Fusion Contact Centers--one of the few companies hiring in this economy, all ages and all levels of experience.

"People are looking for experience and it's hard to get experience when you don't have very much," said Kalie Bickham, a job applicant.

In just two weeks, the company has received more than 100 applications.

"We're looking for people that want a stable job, a career path really," said Vice President Ryan Romero.

"I'm looking to go back to school and that's the really nice thing is they will work with your school schedule," said Elisa Gomez, who's been working there since August.

Base pay starts at $9.50, but the company offers incentives based on customer satisfaction.

Jesse Garza of Santa Maria has been with the company for a year.

"I'm a people person. I like talking and I like being a problem solver. . .Oddly enough, I'm on the phone all the time, either at home or at work," Garza said.

and apparently is very good at what he does.

"He's won a 46 inch LCD TV, a Wii, and I think upwards of $1000 dollars in gift cards and that's in the last 60 days," Romero said.

He says he wouldn't have it any other way. His philosophy is simple.

"If we take care of them and foster that relationship, they're gonna go the extra mile for our clients and that's really what's made us grow," Romero said.

Ringing in the new year with some new employees.

If you're hired, the company says it will provide you with a week of intensive training. Being bilingual is a plus, but not required.
