'Tis the season to get Out and About and get your merry on, and there are all kinds of activites this month to do just that. If you click on the calendar of events to your right, there are some good options. My pick of the week is the San Miguel Electric Christmas Light Parade and Craft Faire Saturday.
It is a classic smalltown holiday experience. The community really comes together for this and should be proud of what they pull off. The floats cruise down Mission Street starting at 6 p.m. Once they've made the first pass, don't rush off. They come back down the other side!
Before the parade, you can cruise the main drag yourself and enjoy the craft fair which starts at 2 p.m. All the downtown merchants get with the program. There's a cupcake contest at the Country Diner, a chili cookoff at 4 p.m. Kids can decorate ornaments at Mission Market and Deli from 2-4 p.m.
Following Santa's appearance in the parade, he'll greet children at the Fire House afterwards. So get out and about in San Miguel this weekend to find a good heapin' helpin' of holiday spirit.
