It's the most popular varietal wine from California and this weekend it will be celebrated in style in Pismo Beach. Combine that with a nearly perfect forecast, and my pick of the week is the Chardonnay Symposium if you're looking to get Out and About.
The 5th Annual event brings together Chardonnay producers, winemakers and wine ethusiasts from all over the world as Chardonnay kind of exemplifies California lifestyle and cuisine, even though it's produced in many other regions.
The event was founded by the Santa Maria Valley Vintners Association and is expanding to represent wines from other regions as well.
Events are happening Friday through Sunday at Dolphin Bay Resort and Spa in Pismo Beach. It's a perfect location pairing for an event that focuses on a wine that is crisp, clean and perfect for summer evenings on the beach.
Friday there is a Grand Chardonnay dinner with ocean views that will change with each course as the sun sets over the Pacific. Tickets are $150.00 with proceeds going to the Cal Poly Wine and Viticulture program.
Saturday is the Grand Tasting with hors d'oeuvres by Lido at Dolphin Bay, fresh oysters from Morro Bay Oyster Company, Chardonnay paired cheeses from Fromagerie Sophie, and a silent auction in support of the Cal Poly Wine and Viticulture Program. Tickets are $80.00.
There is also a Chardonnay Seminar & Panel Session in the morning and a Share Your Chard at Tolosa Winery Saturday evening. For tickets or more information, click here.
