Keeping a food diary and eating regular meals can increase the chance your diet will be successful.

A new study of 150 overweight or obese post-menopausal women found those who kept an accurate log of everything they ate lost about six pounds more than those who did not.

Skipping meals and going out to eat, especially for lunch, prevented weight loss.

Experts say fasting makes you crave high-calorie foods and could lead to overeating.

Eating out gives you less control over portion sizes and ingredients.
