CALIENTE, Calif. (AP) - A wildfire that briefly threatened homes in Kern County is nearing containment.
County fire Capt. Derek Tisinger says the 137-acre blaze is expected to be corralled Tuesday afternoon.
Tisinger says someone mowing dry grass struck a rock, sparking the blaze Monday afternoon in a remote, mountainous area east of Bakersfield.
A dozen homes in a tiny rural community near Twin Oaks were briefly threatened Monday but the danger passed and there were no evacuations.
The fire is located between Lake Isabella and Tehachapi.
