That shiny new iPad could harbor more bacteria than a toilet seat according to a recent European investigation.
We run our fingers all over them while working, eating, and even using the restroom.
Researchers in Europe swabbed 30 tablets, 30 phones, and 30 office keyboards and sent the specimens off for analysis. The results showed many keyboards and tablets were dirtier than an office toilet.
"Everything we touch usually goes onto the touch screen or the back of one of these devices. These are a perfect reservoir for pathogens, and there's an entire alphabet soup that can make you sick on this, like H1N1, MRSA," said Dr. Paul Webber of Marian Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Webber says it's not a matter of washing our hands. He says we need to clean our mobile devices with an anti-bacterial wipe as often as we wash our hands.
