Kidnap victim rescued after 2 days without water

ROWLAND HEIGHTS, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles County authorities have rescued a woman who was held for ransom for two days without any food or water.

Two Rowland Heights couples pleaded not guilty Friday to kidnapping for ransom and conspiracy. They remain jailed.

Authorities say the 44-year-old woman was kidnapped at gunpoint on Monday after a woman she'd worked with for years offered her a ride home.

Her family got a call demanding $110,000 and warning she'd be harmed or killed if it wasn't paid.

About 25 sheriff's detectives worked round-the-clock and on Wednesday found the woman bound with duct tape in a dark, squalid Rowland Heights garage. The Sheriff's Department says she wept and hugged a detective.

She was weak and dehydrated but is expected to make a full recovery.

No ransom was paid.
