Some local kids got the chance to learn about law enforcement Saturday.
The Boys and Girls Club in Oceano hosted its monthly "Saturday With the Sheriff."
Kids got to meet with local law enforcement and learn about careers in the field. They also got to check out the department's Dodge Viper, Humvee, Bearcat, and other patrol cars.
"The idea is not just to show them about the cool cars, but the idea that other people work on things, like mechanics. They have mechanics, they have dispatchers. So careers in law enforcement aren't a bad thing," said Francisco Curiel, the Executive Director of the Oceano Boys and Girls Club.
"They understand that we're their police and that we're there to serve and protect them," said Jim Taylor, a Commander with the Sheriff's Office.
The next "Saturday With the Sheriff" will feature the Sheriff's Bomb Squad on July 27th.
The event is free to attend.
