Children at a Santa Maria elementary school are sending a different kind of Valentine's Day message this year.
Their selling candy for a cause. Kids at Battles Elementary are selling candy grams to help the relief efforts in Haiti. All proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross.
So far, teachers say they've receive an overwhelming response.
"Most people, they just waste money and do it. For this, we're going to be able to use the money for at least someone and to help maybe their families," said 5th grader Jose Gutierrez.
The candy gram includes a heart-shaped lollipop and the fundraiser runs through February 12th.
