It's a rare sight: Killer Whales passing near the shores of the Central Coast. It happened today in Morro Bay.
"It looks like the Killer Whales might be either attacking or taking down one of the gray whales." said Becka Kelly, Harbor Patrol supervisor in Morro Bay. "Ive never seen this before in this area." she said. "We've seen Killer Whales come through, but I've never seen any live action like this."
Kelly has worked at the Harbor Patrol in Morro Bay 14 years and says she has only seen the Orcas here one other time, other than today. Witnessing the whales themselves is rare, but to see the whales attack another, even more so. "It always kind of strikes you as something a little bit sad, but it's also just one of those things in nature that happens, and we're lucky to be seeing it first hand." said Kelly.
See video of the whales tonight on KSBY at 5 and 6.
