In tonight's special edition of Your Family Pet, a story that shows the deep bond between dog and owner, and the great lengths one dog in Atascadero is going to find his forever home.

Seniors often make great pet owners because they are able to provide so much love and affection. However in the sad event they should pass away what happens to the pets they leave behind? One local family is finding that out the tough way.

Danielle Lerner will share Kirby's story tonight at 5 and 6.
