This is the time of year when Central Coast animal shelters fill up with litters of abandoned kittens.
The Santa Barbara County Animal Control staff is hoping people in the community will provide temporary homes for their homeless kittens.
They say foster homes are a great way to provide care for the tiny kittens so they can thrive in a nurturing environment until they are old enough for adoption.
It is also a way for people to see if having a kitten in their home for a little while might make them decide if they want to do it on a more permanent basis.
An orientation workshop for foster parents will be held on Saturday, May 12, at the Santa Maria Animal Center. For more information, call (805) 934-6981.
