Knights and Panthers still 1-2 in Pac-7 after Friday Night

The St. Joseph girls basketball teams stayed perfect in the Pac-7 with a 67-43 home win against Paso Robles on Friday night. Senior guard Tatiana Dunlap led all scorers with 30 points, 8 better then her season average. Paso Robles senior Molly Donovan had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Bearcats who drop to 2-4 in the conference. St. Joseph improves to 6-0 after the first round of Pac-7 games.

Second place Pioneer Valley defended its home court against Atascadero. The Panthers beat the Greyhounds, 66-58. Pioneer Valley is now 5-1 in the Pac-7 after winning just two league games last year. Atascadero was ahead 40-38 going into the fourth quarter but Pioneer Valley won the final quarter, 28-18. Senior guard Ali Rodriguez led the Panthers with 27 points, Rodriguez made 13 of her 17 free throw attempts. The Greyhounds will be without Mary Kate Evans for the rest of the season. The senior who will play at Cal Poly next year has a stress fracture in her foot. Atascadero drops to 3-3 in the Pac-7.

The San Luis Obispo girls bounced back from a tough loss at St. Joseph with a 40-30 win at home over Righetti. The Tigers led the Warriors by one point at the half and put the game away in the second half. Jessie Judge recorded a double-double for the Tigers with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Liz Pereyra led the Warriors with 11 points. The Tigers improved to 4-2 in league and 10-9 for the season. They return to action next Wednesday at Pioneer Valley. The Warriors fell to 0-6 in league and 6-14 overall.

In the Los Padres League the Templeton girls crushed visiting Santa Ynez 70-34. Mari Stewart recorded another double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds for Templeton. Megan Hattar added 18 points and 7 assists for the Eagles. Templeton finishes the first half of LPL action 5-1 and 16-3 for the season. The Pirates dropped to 0-6 in league and 1-19 overall after dropping their ninth in a row.
