The surprise team this fall is the St. Joseph High football team. The Knights have won five-straight games and are off to a 5-1 start under first year head coach Dustin Davis.

St. Joseph is 3-0 in Pac 7 League play and is the only undefeated team left in the league standings. Their three league wins are already more than the program had in the previous two years combined.

The Knights host Paso Robles in our Friday Night Highlights Game of the Week on Friday. Paso Robles is 4-2 overall and 1-1 in league. The Bearcats are coming off a 55-27 win over previously undefeated Kingsburg.

The Knights know they cannot take the Bearcats lightly and they've dedicated themselves to staying focused. "They've got a good team. They've got one of the better offenses in the league and they've got some really quality guys on defense too. So we've got to play very assignment sound," said coach Davis. The Knights' defense held Arroyo Grande and Righetti to 10 points each the previous two weeks in 38-10 and 22-10 victories.

"It feels great. We've got a whole new philosophy, a new coach, everything is just a lot better, we're more committed. We're not giving up this year," said senior running back and defensive end Wesley Williams, who ranks second on the team with 7 rushing touchdowns and 512 yards rushing. He also has a 10 yard touchdown catch.

The Knights have also relied on Scotty Cusack, who has 501 rushing yards and 5 TD runs to go along with 255 receiving yards and 1 TD catch, as well as three kickoffs returned for touchdowns. Junior quarterback Curry Parham has thrown for 867 yards passing and 6 TD passes with 0 interceptions, while he has rushed for 307 yards.

DJ Migliaccio has been a beast on the defensive side of the ball with a team-high 61 tackles and 3 sacks.

Attention to all Bearcat and Knight fans. KSBY Chief Meteorologist Dave Hovde will be live at the Carl's Jr. on Bradley Road in Santa Maria during KSBY News at 6pm on Friday during our weekly Hometown Pep Rally. We're asking all fans and students to show up around 5:45 pm this Friday at the restaurant to be a part of the festivities during our live newscast. The goal is to showcase the St. Joseph and Paso Robles school spirit.
