Knights upset Westchester in overtime to open National Prep Classic

The Knights upset six-time CIF State champion Westchester 67-62 in overtime to open their third annual National Prep Classic on Wednesday night.

The St. Joseph boys basketball team trailed 49-44 after three quarters, but came back to force overtime by outscoring the Comets 16-11 in the last eight minutes of regulation. St. Joseph star Keith Datu fouled out midway through the fourth quarter with 21 points.

St. Joseph dominated the overtime period and outscored the Comets 7-2 to win its season opener. The Knights are ranked 10th in the Division 4A preseason poll.

Case Bruton led the Knights with 25 points.

The Knights play Palmdale at 6pm Thursday at Hancock College.
