LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say a man whose prized sports car was stolen 42 years ago has it back after spotting it on eBay.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said Sunday that Robert Russell contacted authorities after determining the 1967 Austin Healey stolen from his Philadelphia home in 1970 was now in East Los Angeles.
A Sheriff's Department detective tracked it down to an auto dealership and department told Russell he could pick up his car.
He has since brought it back to Texas, where he now lives. His hometown wasn't immediately available.
Russell told deputies that he bought the vehicle for $3,000. It's now valued at $23,000.
But the department says he says he continued his search, not for its monetary value, but because it had sentimental value to him and his wife.
