Lack of sleep can prompt athletes to quit

Sleepy athletes may have shorter careers.

A study presented at the Associated Professional Sleep Society's meeting in Boston found NFL players who were sleep deprived were less likely to stay with the team that drafted them.

The same held true for sleep-deprived professional baseball players.

Researchers say measuring a player's sleepiness could help teams decide who will be the most productive; however, the research is preliminary.
