Las Vegas police investigating hostage situation

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A SWAT team and negotiators have been dispatched to a Las Vegas motel where authorities say a woman has barricaded herself inside with a young child.
A spokeswoman for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says officers received a call about 7 a.m. Saturday about a distraught woman who had a 1-year-old with her. Authorities say the woman claimed to be depressed and indicated she would not cooperate when police arrived.
KTNV-TV says the situation is unfolding at Budget Suites off Rancho Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard.
Police say a portion of Rancho Drive near the North Las Vegas Airport has been closed.
