SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - A mother and daughter injured in a tour bus crash that killed eight people have filed a lawsuit against the bus operator and the charter company that organized the fatal trip.

The lawsuit was filed Friday in San Bernardino County Superior Court and names as defendants the National City, Calif.-based Scapadas Magicas and Tijuana, Mexico-based Interbus Tours and Charters.

The women allege they suffered broken bones in the Feb. 3 accident near Yucaipa (yoo-KY'-puh).

The driver, who is also named in the lawsuit, told investigators his brakes failed as he descended a steep mountain road while bringing a busload of Mexican tourists home from a trip to see the snow in the San Bernardino Mountains.

No one answered the phone at Scapadas Magicas. A spokesman for Interbus had no comment.
