A group of volunteers wants to help members of the LGBT community better understand the effects of the recent Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage.
On Saturday in San Luis Obispo, there will be a panel of legal experts who will provide an overview of the different topics impacted by the ruling. They'll go over estate planning, tax law, family law, and employment law.
"If you're already same-sex married, what are your new benefits? What should you be doing, especially if you've retired," said attorney Doug Heumann about the topics that will be covered.
The panel is sponsored by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance and the Community Foundation of SLO Growing together.
It runs from 10:00 am to noon at the San Luis Obispo Library Community Room. It's free to attend.
